Christmas Tree Decor Inspiration

I am just dying to bust out my Christmas decorations this year…new house + baby = overexcited decorating mama! We finally have a mantle & fireplace to decorate and we even have a little bit of a stair rail. Eek!

I’m putting the hubs in charge of decorating the outside of the house (a first for both of us this year and I don’t do ladders thank you). Luckily, he’s also really good at ornament placement, but I plan on stepping up my tree decor game this year (although I might have to leave the bottom foot of my tree empty as to not entice the baby). My cheapie artificial tree I bought for $20 right out of college is dying – and shedding baby-choking needles like crazy, so I’m in the market for a new tree this year, too. I typically try to keep my decor fairly classic – I’ve done the neutral golds and silvers with pops of red in the past, but I am loving the woodsy/rustic look this year. Here are some of my inspiration images!

Plaid + chalkboard + black, white, red and rustic accents …be still my heart.

Again loving the buffalo check  and colors here. The flocked pieces are a fun touch too! I need to learn how to properly add sprigs to my tree.

I love the black and white gingham ribbon accent. Such an easy way to add some flair!

Love the way they did the ribbon on this tree. I’ve never mastered the ribbon placement, but I might give it a go this year. Here are some good tips for decorating your tree with ribbon. I love the idea of using ribbon as an inexpensive way to tie in more current styles.

When do you get out your Christmas decorations? Any tricks for decorating your tree?

  • I can’t wait to see your decorations!! I am so excited to decorate, too, but I have already spent so much money to decorate a new house! I have to remember that we can keep adding each year. πŸ˜‰ I am going for the traditional green and red…Target has the cutest lines this year, so I’ve grabbed a few things from them. I will wait until the Saturday after Thanksgiving to start decorating, but I am totally scheming in my head!! :)

i love the trees you picked out! i really want to use some ribbon on our tree this year. xo jillian

  • LOVE picture #2 and the last one!! SOO pretty. I would be excited to decorate too for the same reasons!! YAY. Hearing you talk about Michael decorating the outside of your house makes me think of when my Dad used to do that. :-)

I can chat any day this week too… so let me know. This time I promise to answer the phone too haha. Have a fab day!! XOXO

  • Love them all! It’s so funny that you posted this today, because I literally just got out of my mouth to Brandon: “We should put up the Christmas tree today!” (He’s taking a personal day today.) He looked at me and said, “Uh…NO.” Ha!

  • Oh my gosh – love all of these!!! I love the black with green – really pretty color palette! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

  • I loveeee them all, but I think the buffalo check is my favorite! And if you need a new tree, wait til Black Friday sales! That’s when we got ours last year for a great deal!!

  • ahhh i love looking at christmas trees and christmas decor, but i suck at implementing it. we bought some cute little stockings for the cats, so maybe i will actually decorate this year lol

  • LOVING all this Christmas tree inspiration! This is the first year that I will have a second “formal” tree in our formal living room (you’ll be able to see the tree from the street thanks to our big window … my dream come true), and I’m going with the gold/silver/burlap, rustic thing.

  • SUH-WOON! Gorgeous picks!! xx

  • eeekkk!! This makes me overly excited and I want to get started like NOW! Can’t wait to see what you do!

  • These are all so pretty! We had a modge podge tree which I love… with our favorite ornaments and really gaudy silver tinsel! But, I can’t even think about Christmas until Thanksgiving. It’s a rule in our house!

  • I’m trying so hard to wait and put decor up but I’m so excited too!

  • Loving all of this inspiration!!! Do you plan to get a real or fake tree? There is the most beautifullllll tree at Hobby Lobby, but it is $600! I’m still trying to slowly ease John into the idea – I mean, hey, it lasts “forever”, right?! πŸ˜‰

  • This makes me so ready to get my tree up! We are on the hunt for a new tree this year. Any luck finding one?

  • Great picks! I’m definitely leaning more rustic this year, too! I decorated one room today for the holidays. Oops. xo, Champagne&Suburbs
