{Weekending} Coed Baby Shower Edition

Hi friends! Sorry, I’m a little behind with my weekend recap, but I was still recovering from my whirlwind baby shower! So without further ado, my weekend happenings…

On Friday night I treated myself to a pedicure and it. felt. amazing. Seriously, I don’t know why I held out so long on getting one. The massage chair and some pampering were just what mama needed! Afterwards, I went home and watched Hart of Dixie, Michael fell asleep at 9:00 (since he was running on 2 hours of sleep all day) and I ended up cleaning the house from 9-11. I officially had cankles after being on my feet all night. Boo.

On Saturday I did even more cleaning and shower prep. I took lots of little breaks, because this prego mama gets out of breath so easily these days! At 4:00 I had an appointment with my favorite nail lady and got a manicure. Yes, I took two trips on two different days to two different nail places this weekend. Don’t judge. I wanted to wait on the mani till after I was done cleaning and Friday night I just wanted to relax so that’s what I decided to do. Plus, I didn’t want to spend 2 hours on Saturday getting both done. I know it’s ridiculous. I ended up getting Lucky Lucky Lavender on my nails and I really love this color for spring.

On Sunday we woke up to 6 inches of snow on the ground. Not the best conditions for a baby shower! The roads were awful that morning and there were several travel advisories in surrounding counties. We decided to go ahead with the shower since most people were coming from nearby and we hoped the roads would be better that afternoon. No way was I going to go through deep cleaning, picking up extra chairs and prep again to reschedule either. My awesome shower hostesses drove about 2 hours in the horrid snow to throw us our shower! They were troopers and I’m so thankful for them.

The shower was nautical themed and there were so many cute decorations and nautical touches! They did a fabulous job!

Only a few people didn’t make it because of the weather and we still had a good turnout. We got to see several of our friends and received lots of goodies for baby Fortman! One of my good friends from college even drove in from Nashville, TN for it (5 hrs away)! We were feeling very loved and grateful that we have so many good friends. It was a fun time and went by really fast and I sadly forgot to take many pictures of people! :(

Before we knew it, the shower was over and we said goodbye to our friends. We had lots of help cleaning up, so the house is still in order (praise! I was really dreading clean up). And it was really easy to transport our baby goodies from the living room to the baby’s room down the hall :) a nice perk of having the shower at our house. Michael had planned on getting right back to work after the shower, but we were both exhausted and ended up snuggling up in bed and talking, which we haven’t really done in so long since he’s been so busy with work!  The perfect ending to our weekend. Hope you all had a good weekend too and are having a good week!!
