Easy DIY Cleaning + Free Printable Labels

You know that awful smell you get when you use a really potent cleaning product? It makes me want to gag, I hate it! I also hate spending $5 for one bottle of all-purpose cleaner. Not to mention the 10 other bottles needed for dusting, shower, kitchen sinks, glass, stainless steel…the list (and amount of bottles overflowing from under my sink) can go on and on. Needless to say, when DIY’ing your own cleaning products became popular, I was game.

Originally, I tried out some of these DIY cleaning recipes only because I wanted to save some money and cut down on the amount of products we stored. But I also love that they are a more natural cleaning option and are less toxic as well. I like being able to make them smell nice by adding different essential oils scents (no more toxic bleach smells!), plus most essential oils work as a disinfectant too.

I’ve been using the granite cleaner recipe for almost a year now and it works great! My granite countertops are shiny and I’ve saved money on cleaning products. Unfortunately it has taken us forever to go through all the cleaning products we already had, so I haven’t gotten to try out all these recipes yet, but I plan to!

Once I started making a couple bottles of DIY cleaner, I realized I needed some labels. This request actually came from my husband who tried to clean the counters one day (um, what?) and didn’t know what cleaner to use. I also could never remember what I put in the bottle once it was empty or where I found the recipe. So I made some chalkboard labels that have the recipe right on the label and I’m sharing them with all of you! Click here to download the file. They work with Avery shipping labels (3 1/3″ x 4″ – 5264/5164).
