An End to SAHHousewifery

So it’s official. I got a job and so my days of being a SAHW are over. No more cleaning, cooking, crafting and binge watching Netflix shows. Ok so maybe I’ll still do those things, but just not during business hours…

Reflecting back:

Of course there were still moments of boredom, feeling like a failure, and generally feeling a little depressed, but overall it was nice to have some time off and catch up on life.  I was able to cook much more and try a lot of new recipes (not to mention the bliss of grocery shopping in the middle of the afternoon in a near-empty store). My house has also never been so clean (even though it’s never spotless). I spent most of my days cleaning and cooking. During November and December I had a lot of Etsy orders too, so I worked on those everyday as well and of course some blogging here and there. It was especially wonderful to have the time off during the holidays. We spent an entire week at home with both sets of parents and saw some friends as well. I’ve never had that much time off over the holidays, so it was nice and relaxing for a change. The past 2 months off have really flown by and I’m a little sad that I didn’t do more.

The new gig:

I will be the Development and Marketing Associate for the Day Nursery Association of Indianapolis starting next week! My new boss is a coworker from my last job and although we didn’t work together directly, I really like her and am looking forward to working with her.  The office is downtown. I don’t spend too much time downtown because I hate dealing with the parking and traffic. Fortunately they have their own parking lot, so I won’t have to worry about that. Plus, I think it will be an easier and hopefully shorter commute. It’ll be nice when My Man is in the office (which is also dt), we might carpool or meet for dinner sometimes. I’m looking forward to doing something new, but also a little nervous. Wish me luck next week!

  2. I started reading your blog this week. Congrats on the new job. I am also in Indy, but I have not found work since September. The market is tight. I am in marketing as well. Best of luck.
