Friday! Last one of August, can you believe it?! Fall is so close and I’m very excited for that. The hubs comes home from a work conference in Orlando tonight. He sent me a picture of Epcot from his hotel. Rude. I seriously considered skipping out on work and sneaking Logan and I in on his work trip for some Disney adventures! Maybe next time. Our weekend is pretty open and Logan and I are recovering from some lingering summer colds. #storyofmylife Hopefully no tornadoes will go through our area (happening all the time these days!) and we can get out for some fun this weekend! Here are my randoms this week…
Concealer is probably this girl’s best friend. Genetically dark under-eye circles and the interrupted sleep patterns of a teething toddler mom make for a scary under eye situation. I’ve tried a lot of concealers and some of the cult favorites just don’t hold up (I’m looking at you Maybelline Instant Age Rewind), you might recall the massive (11 total products) concealer review post I did a couple years back. When it comes to concealers, I need the max coverage and a long lasting formula!
I love the MAC concealer and it’s the one I’ve used primarily for the past two years. However, the formula is thinner and can tend to be a little too dry in the winter months resulting in it accentuating my fine lines. I typically just make sure to apply a really good moisturizer underneath and hope that that holds up by the end of the day. Most days it works fine.
The It Cosmetics concealer is much thicker. It’s great at providing plenty of moisture and not settling into lines. However, you really have to make sure to set it with powder and put on waterproof eyeliner or else it tends to feel a little sticky and look racoonish.
The Kat Von D Lock It Concealer formula is the perfect balance between the MAC Pro Longwear and the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye. Where the It Cosmetics is a little too creamy and the MAC is a little dryer, the Kat Von D is just right. It’s still creamy and moisturizing enough but not at all sticky or heavy feeling. The formula is the biggest difference I notice between the three and what I love most about the Kat Von D line.
The coverage is definitely right up there with the MAC and It Cosmetics concealers – full coverage and it lasts all day. No complaints on coverage from any of the three.
At first I wasn’t so sure about the Kat Von D applicator, but I really like it. I swipe it on and then blend it in with my Beauty Blender. It’s easy and mess-free, which is something I can’t say with the MAC concealer! The worst thing about the MAC concealer is the pump applicator. The formula is slightly runny and it always pumps too much out and I end up wasting a lot of it. The It Cosmetics comes in a tube, so I don’t waste anything, but I still have to use my fingers.
When it comes to shade range, the Kat Von D and MAC concealers are neck in neck with 20 and 16 shades respectively. The It Cosmetics doesn’t really compare with only four shades.
The price points of each are pretty comparable. I don’t love that the Kat Von D is the most expensive of the three, but it’s only by a few dollars, so I’d definitely purchase it once I run out! Kat Von D Concealer: $26
It’s been a few months since I’ve done a Logan update. Since we’re at 15 months – almost 16 now! – and because there are so many new little things he’s been doing lately that I want to remember, I thought I’d grace the blog with some Logie-goodness. You’re welcome. Continue reading →
Hey friends! Today I’m sharing what a typical weekday looks like for us right now. I’ve seen other people do similar posts and I love seeing how other people manage their days as a mom. This was also a post some of you suggested from the reader survey, so thank you whoever suggested that! Continue reading →
Hey guys! Happy August! Hope you’ve all been enjoying your summer. Our weekends have been packed and we have more fun to come before the summer is over. I just thought I’d pop in and do a little update on what we’ve been up to lately. This little blogging break has been much-needed and I have lots of post ideas and things in the works. I’m hoping to get back into the groove of things before too long! Continue reading →
